New Classroom!

Not only am I moving from 2nd grade to 1st grade, but I also had the challenge of moving classrooms! Believe it or not, moving classrooms can be JUST as stressful as moving homes! It was A LOT of work but I am super excited to be in this new room. It is H-U-G-E!! I have so much more room than I did last year and I couldn't be more thrilled! After this week I feel like I can finally relax a little now that most of my room is complete with the exception of a few small things to put up/finish. Here are a few before and after pics!

After Pics...

Daily 5 Bulletin Board. The polka dot posters were made by me and the zebra clip chart I downloaded here.

My job chart! This is one of my favorite parts of the classroom...I think maybe because of the super adorable fabric ;). I still need to nail down the jobs I want to use in the classroom and write them onto the pockets. I just printed, lamintated, and cut out the numbers and then glued them onto jumbo popsicle sticks. This way, all I have to do is rotate the numbers on the job chart and every student will get a chance to do the different jobs!

"Hooray" Board for student work!

A few printables!!

I downloaded this adorable "Writer's Eye" printable from The First Grade Parade here. I LOVE this!!

Ashley Nichols at The Polka Dot Patch created the most adorable class rules for Whole Brain Teaching and they were the first thing I hung in my classroom when I got hooked!

When I found this Word Wall on Pinterest I fell in LOVE with it! I just had to have it in my room! This adorable Word Wall is from Erica Bohrer's First Grade

The only really major thing I still need to do in the classroom is get my Common Core Standards Board up and going which I plan to do during Pre-Planning week. It is coming up TOO soon! This summer has certainly flown by but I really am looking forward to 1st grade!

That's all for now but I hope to get more pics up of other things I have done in the next week!

New Classroom Blog!

Welcome to my new blog, Corder's Classroom Confessions!! After a few weeks on the fence, I have decided to document my new journey into the wonderland that is 1st Grade! I have so many fun and exciting things planned for this coming year that I really wanted to capture it all - blog-style :). I promised myself that I will try to blog as much as possible (fingers crossed!) so that I can share a few things that I am doing in my classroom, but mainly so I can look back to decide which things I need/want to change for the future and which things I think worked well. I can't wait to start my new journey and for all of you to join me through the good, the bad, and the learning! Here's to a new and fresh start in 1st grade!!
